COREPROTECT involves the development of a new generation of multifunctional building materials capable of combining improved thermal performance, greater mechanical strength, and passive fire protection. The innovation is based on the incorporation of core-shell nanoparticles—with an aluminum oxyhydroxide core and a functional mesoporous silica layer—into cementitious and calcareous matrices (mortar, concrete, and plaster). This approach aims to overcome the limitations of currently available solutions, resulting in materials that are more efficient, sustainable, and compatible with existing industrial processes.
